Hot 100: property companies come in strong

Nine companies from the property and construction sector are among an elite group of the UK’s fastest growing privately owned companies listed in the 2008 Real Business/LDC Hot 100 league table.

The firms are bucking the trend of many in the sector struggling against the global credit crunch.

Builder Probuild Birmingham, is the highest ranked firm from the industry, placed 5th overall, recording an average growth of 154 % per anum over the past four years.

Started by shop-fitter Anthony Sherlock as an odd jobs business for a handful of local customers, Probuild has now become a national builder with a £5 million turnover.

The sector’s high-performers have come from across the UK, including Manchester regeneration specialist Modus Ventures, (26th, 118 %) and Edinburgh based developer Applecross Properties in (32nd, 105 %)

The businesses are joined on the list by:

•    Property developer Wheatley (19th, 127 %)
