New office space gives recruitment firm room to grow

Jo Sellick bought a five-floor office block in Manchester for his recruitment business, Sellick Partnership, in the hope the company will grow to fill the whole building.

The £15m-turnover company currently resides on two of the floors and Sellick has tenants on the other three. He says: “Head office accounts are based in Manchester so there’s a floor for that department and then a large sales floor. If we have to take over the whole building floor by floor, why not? That was the reason for buying the building.”

Sellick says he opted to purchase the building rather than lease it for a number of reasons. In addition to offering the company expansion opportunities, it’s also a good investment.

“It also says a lot to the employees,” he adds. “The message is: we’re not going anywhere and we’re financially secure. That gives confidence to people.”

The new head office is on the edge of Spinningfields – an up-and-coming area of Manchester. “RBS has built in the area so it bodes well for the future,” Sellick says.
