Entrepreneurs and FDs go hand in hand
by Catherine Woods - Tuesday, 26th February 2008 -
Employing a good finance director to keep a watchful eye on costs is the most important thing a fast-growing company can do, according to Vtesse Networks founder Aidan Paul.
Paul says: “If you’re going through rapid growth, make sure you’ve got a good finance director and someone marking their homework.
"If you’re not careful, a mistake, such as a crack, can propagate. If you haven’t got the right checks and balances, you can come unstuck.”
Vtesse is a specialist optical networking service provider with clients that include financial services companies, large systems integrators, as well as government and telecoms groups.
It has grown 90 per cent year on year and is likely to hit sales of £20m next financial year. The company appointed an FD just over 12 months ago.
