Theo to save Woolworths?
by Matthew Rock - Monday, 1st December 2008 -
Yeah, yeah, Dragons' Den, TV celebrity and all that. When it comes to retail, few match him. Could Paphitis be the man to save the runt of the high street?
Our attention was first brought to Theo Paphitis many moons ago when he was running Milwall FC. Like many entrepreneurs, he did not find it a particularly edifying experience. At the same time, he was also turning around the lingerie chain La Senza and showing the high street bosses that when it comes to retail, it's the dirty stuff such as merchandising that makes a difference.
The Times, and others, are rumouring that Theo Paphitis could be the man to take over struggling Woolworths this morning.
I recommend a read of this definitive profile.
Theo Paphitis was a VIP guest at the CBI/Real Business Growing Business Awards last week. Read all about the celebrity entrepreneurs and winners here.
