Girl power drives star-studded lingerie business

This is the page

“Bryan Adams is a great photographer. I showed him my stuff in the beginning and he was able to help me,” Montgomery reveals, adding: “We’ve been so lucky to have had a great following of people supporting us.”

A love for lingerie and a desire to create something for “girls like myself who wanted fun and luxurious lingerie but couldn’t afford Agent Provocateur” led Montgomery to launch the brand in 2006 with two styles of bras and knickers.

Montgomery has creative control over everything despite not being a designer by trade. She notes, however, that she's been surrounded by fashion all her life. “My godparents are the founder of Knickerbox while my father is fashion photographer David Montgomery,” she says. “I can tell what’s a good quality fabric or a great-fitting bra or dress.”

Today, Pussy Glamore is stocked in stores such as Top Shop and Selfridges, and is sold online through Fig Leaves. Montgomery meets all the buyers personally to ensure they understand the concept behind the brand. “It’s all about Pussy Power and Girl Power. It's about girls looking after themselves and embracing the female form.”

The next step for Pussy Glamore is a move into sleep wear, followed by beauty and swim wear. Montgomery says: “It’s still a baby brand but it’s slowly growing. It’s always tempting to take on opportunities that come to you but it needs to be nurtured. I want to focus on making the underwear really great rather than doing lots of different things.”
