Chris Barling

Barling set up Actinic in 1996 and introduced homeworking from day one.
"For a start-up business, homeworking makes complete sense because you get rid of the overhead of the office cost. And of course, by reducing your initial costs, you reduce your risk."

In an interview with Melissa Hancock, Barling explains that the main advantages of running the business from home have been decreased costs and increased staff retention, as well as an improved skill level. "Homeworking means we can employ people overseas so we have the pick of the best people around the world."
