Advantage, the entrepreneur

The second annual Real Business/CBI Entrepreneurs’ Summit takes place on April 15,  with appearances from John Hutton, the secretary of state for business, and CBI director-general Richard Lambert.

The pair will give keynote addresses at the day-long summit on Tuesday, April 15, at London’s Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.

Lambert will open the summit by discussing the current business climate and the challenges it presents for entrepreneurs. Later on, John Hutton, secretary of state for business and enterprise, will deliver a keynote address.

Other highlights of the day will include:

Sir Ronald Cohen, founder of private equity firm Apax Partners, talking about The Advantage Of Uncertainty and how entrepreneurial UK firms can turn economic downturn to their advantage.

Rod Aldridge, founder of outsourcing business Capita, presenting The New Agenda For Entrepreneurs and the role of social entrepreneurs in re-energising public services.

James Caan, chief executive of Hamilton Bradshaw, and Doug Richard, founder of Library House - both stars of the BBC’s Dragons’ Den - on Building A Truly Entrepreneurial Britain.

Lambert says: "The Entrepreneurs’ Summit will bring together some of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs and the country’s most dynamic new businesses to discuss how owner-directors and SMEs can seize the initiative in a turbulent economic climate.

"It promises to be a fantastic opportunity for budding entrepreneurs or established business people, with a roster of fascinating speakers to inspire and guide."

The event is co-hosted by the CBI and Real Business magazine, supported by Bank of Scotland Corporate.

Other contributors include CBI Entrepreneur of the Year Steve Leach, founder of Bigmouthmedia; Grant Bovey, CEO of Imagine Homes; and Camila Batmanghelidjh, founder of Kids Company.
