Mentors teach entrepreneur to be a businesswoman

Last year, Scandrett sold Complete Care, the homecare services company she founded in 1995, to Claimar Care Group for £33m.

After having her children, Scandrett worked as a dinner lady, classroom assistant and social worker before starting Complete Care.

“I’ve got no experience in business but very quickly became managing director of a large company. That was challenging,” she says.

“I think at many stages there have been some influential people who have pointed me in the right direction.”

Scandrett says mentors that have helped her to become a “successful businesswoman” include former advisers who helped her to grow or restructure the business, and David Burton, who was Complete’s finance director.
