Ask Timpo: dolly birds
by John Timpson - Thursday, 6th September 2007 -
Has it occurred to you that your wife might be right, and you and your business would be better off if you had a shorter working week? Regard her comments as a wake-up call and change your routine before it’s too late. Better time management could improve your business, save your marriage and avoid the cost of an expensive divorce.
If, however, you think the business can’t do without your round-the-clock attention, let’s talk about the Dolly Bird project. There are two obvious problems. First, you can’t woo her with messages from your BlackBerry – courtship will be time-consuming, and candle-lit dinners for two will interfere with your routine.
Second, when the younger, understanding model gets used to her new role, she will almost certainly moan about your working hours just as much as the wife you dumped. What’s worse, the girl will probably relieve her boredom by flexing her credit card and spending your hard-earned cash.
In the hope that you are willing to give your wife’s advice the attention it deserves, change your office hours and continue to pay for one woman instead of two, I am sending you a free copy of my little book, How to Create More Time.
